St. Brendan " The Navigator " was born in Tralee Co.Kerry (C484-C577).He sailed around the islands of Ireland in a leather-clad boat , spreading the word of God and founded many Monasteries, the most famous at Clonfert Co. Galway.He sailed around the world for nine years, visiting England ,Scotland, Wales and some say North America.There is a lot mythology attached to his travels.
